Position: Manager - Transportation Logistics Address: 1135 Squires Beach Rd, Pickering, ON L1W 3T9 Remote work availability: No Salary: $60,000 Annual Minimum 40 hours of work Number of Positions – 1 Job duties and responsibilities not limited to: • Supervise, coordinate, assign and review the daily work of dispatchers and transportation logistics staff involved in scheduling and coordinating freight pickups and deliveries. • Oversee and coordinate daily transportation, distribution and warehousing operations to ensure efficient scheduling, movement and handling of freight. • Plan and coordinate daily transportation schedules, driver assignments and delivery routes based on customer requirements, shipment priorities, appointment times, driver availability and equipment requirements. • Oversee the dispatch and movement of LTL, FTL, cross-dock, warehousing, last-mile and regional freight shipments to ensure timely pickups and deliveries. • Monitor ongoing transportation activities and provide direction to dispatch staff regarding driver assignments, route changes, delivery priorities, delays and other operational requirements. • Coordinate with drivers, warehouse personnel, customers, shippers and receivers to ensure freight is properly scheduled, loaded, transported and delivered according to customer requirements. • Review shipment information, including pickup and delivery locations, appointment times, freight dimensions, weight, skid counts and special handling requirements, and ensure appropriate vehicles and equipment are assigned. • Resolve transportation and distribution issues, including missed appointments, driver delays, equipment problems, road closures, loading or unloading delays, receiver concerns and other service-related problems, and implement appropriate corrective actions. • Assist in preparing and reviewing transportation rates and service quotations based on shipment requirements, routes, equipment needs and applicable service charges. • Review applicable transportation and accessorial charges, including waiting time, driver-assist, reattempt, cross-dock and drop-trailer charges, and ensure they are accurately documented and communicated. • Review transportation and shipment documentation, including bills of lading, proof of delivery, manifests and delivery confirmations, to ensure completeness and accuracy. • Ensure dispatch and transportation staff maintain accurate records of driver assignments, shipment status, delivery confirmations, customer instructions and other required transportation documentation. • Assist with the recruitment process of dispatch and transportation logistics staff, as required. • Train dispatch and transportation staff on job duties, company procedures, customer service requirements, shipment documentation, scheduling practices and transportation processes. • Monitor and evaluate the performance of dispatch and transportation logistics staff and provide feedback and guidance to maintain service quality and operational efficiency. • Ensure transportation and distribution activities are carried out in accordance with company policies, safety procedures and applicable transportation requirements. • Monitor the proper operation of dispatch systems and transportation equipment and coordinate required maintenance or repairs with appropriate personnel and service providers. • Assist in identifying and implementing operational improvements to transportation scheduling, dispatch procedures and freight coordination processes to reduce delays and improve service efficiency. • Perform dispatch and transportation coordination duties when required to support operational needs and ensure continuity of service. Skill requirements for the position (including education and work experience): • Completion of a one- to two-year post-secondary program in business, supply chain management, finance, production, manufacturing management, or a related field is required. • Two to three years of experience in the occupation being supervised, preferably in the transportation or logistics industry, is required. • Ability to multitask, work effectively under pressure, and maintain accuracy and organization in a fast-paced environment. • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, along with strong organizational and administrative skills.
