Position Details: • Position title: Farm Supervisor • Vacancies: 1 • Status: Full-time, permanent • Compensation: $20.00 per hour, 40 - 60 hours per week • Benefits: health care plan • Shifts: Early morning, days, weekends • Language of work: English • Anticipated start date: as soon as possible • Location of work: in person at 90 Concession 11 Townsend, Waterford, Ontario Canada Overview Markhoeve Dairy is seeking a dedicated and experienced Farm Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our dairy farm. The position will supervise livestock labourers and farm workers, monitor herd health and production activities, coordinate feeding and breeding programs, and ensure the safe operation of farm equipment. Responsibilities: • Coordinate, assign, and supervise the work of 1-2 livestock labourers and farm workers. • Plan and organize daily work schedules and prioritize tasks to meet livestock production objectives. • Handle and monitor dairy cattle, including overseeing the calving process and monitoring animal health. • Implement and supervise herd management practices, including feeding schedules, health checks, breeding activities, and associated record keeping. • Supervise milking operations to ensure animal welfare, quality standards, and established procedures are followed. • Maintain quality control, production records, and livestock performance records. • Supervise and oversee breeding, livestock production, and feed production programs. • Operate, maintain, and oversee the safe use of farm machinery and equipment, including tractors, feeders, and related agricultural equipment. • Distribute feed and assist with general farm operations as required. • Ensure farm safety, animal welfare, and biosecurity procedures are followed by all livestock labourers and farm workers. • Identify operational issues and recommend improvements to farm management practices. Work Conditions: Work is performed in barns, livestock facilities, and outdoor agricultural environments in varying weather conditions including the following conditions: • Rural area • Fast-paced environment • Work under pressure • Physically demanding • Handling heavy loads Qualifications: • Completion of a college diploma or equivalent farm supervisory experience. • Two (2) to three (3) years of experience in dairy farm operations, livestock production, or a closely related agricultural setting required. • Prior experience operating agriculture machinery including tractors required. • Mechanical knowledge related to farm machinery operation and maintenance is required. • Ability to perform physically demanding working, including lifting, carrying, and handling farm materials and equipment. • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills. • Strong attention to detail to ensure proper herd care, production record keeping, and equipment maintenance. • An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience will be considered • Valid driver’s license.
